Hello
Darters…. We are completed our first set of Playoffs. It has certainly not been without its challenges as you might expect. The board will be deciding shortly on new rules, amendments to rules and definitions that have arisen out of the new Playoff format. This information will be up for confirmation by the membership at the next General Meeting. For those of you new to
the SCDA, the General Membership Meetings are mandatory for all
Team Captains or their representatives just
like a Captains’ Meeting. This last General Meeting, quite
a few points were lost by teams for not showing up. I would like to remind everyone that our FAX number was recently changed back to the SCDA FAX number. Please do not send anything to the old number. All forms have been changed on our website but, just in case, please make a note of the new FAX number which is (818) 592-6927 as I know we sometimes use old sheets with numbers crossed out and the new number written in. We also recently held our ADO Regional 501 Qualifiers and 1st place was earned by Curtis Pierpont and 2nd by Dan Santos. Congratulations to both as they are now qualified to go to the Western Regionals to represent the ADO and attempt and go on to the National Team. Special thanks to Craig Holman and the Pickwick’s Pub for allowing everyone to participate in this event. The establishment is very instrumental in coordinating these Events. The Summer Season will start on June 9th which means that the Captains’ Meeting will take place on Sunday, June 8th at 1:00PM at the Reseda Moose Lodge. At this time, packets and trophies will be handled out to the Captain’s or their Representatives. Team Registrations for the Summer Season must be submitted to the SCDA no later than June 1st. Registration Fees must be paid at or before the Captains’ Meeting. Also, please remember that it is your responsibility as a team and/or Captain to pay the Sponser Fee up front when registering your team. Please also make sure that your individual players are properly registered so points are not taken or teams withdrawn by forfeit during the season. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the SCDA or your Area Board Member. Respectfully, Barry L. Witt |

The
SCDA has decided to allow Captains to call their results in to (818)448-6864 until
further notice. A
hard copy of the results must still be followed up and received no
later than noon on the third business day after the match. Results are to be faxed to (818) 592-6927. Scanned results sent by E-mail to brownowl@sbcglobal.net will be accepted as well. Of course, you can always mail your results to the SCDA if you prefer. If, for any reason, you have trouble faxing, please phone (818)448-6864 and let us know there is a problem. |
| From: Anne Kramer Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 9:37 PM To: Southern California Darters Hello everyone, Just wanted to pass along some results from the regional playoff that was held yesterday at the Dolphin Lounge in San Diego. I'd like to give an extra special thank you to the San Diego players for making the trip. Without the dedication of the GSDDA players regional after regional, we would not have the players needed to put on this event. We had 8 men total for the event, and our congratulations go to Marvin Wentz, who was yesterdays winner. Marvin had a excellent run during the entire event and only lost one leg out of the 21 played. Way to go, Marvin! Marvin will now represent Region II-2 in Connecticut in August at the East/West All-Star Challenge, which will also give him the opportunity to qualify for the 501 National Championships. This trip will also give Marvin the opportunity to compete in the USA Dart Classic, which takes place that same weekend. So, good luck to you Marvin and make SoCal proud! Here are the overall results on the day....
There were no women to play, so this region will not be sending a ladies representative to Connecticut in August. As an added note, plans are being made for the next regional, which will be for the US Team and the winner of this regional will earn the opportunity to compete in the US Team National Playoffs and the Halloween Open in Austin Texas in October. The tentative date for this regional will be July 26th. I will send out further details when they become available....but for now, all association reps....please get going on getting your association qualifiers completed. The more the merrier and let's see if we can start sending more than one person to the National Playoffs. Also, the regional raffle will continue for this regional and look for selected location announcements where special raffle tickets will only be sold for one day and the winner that day will get their entry paid into the next regional. Webmasters, if you could post this information on your league website, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone and happy darting to all !! Anne Kramer |
